Tactix fall to a Fever on the back of a cricket score

The Tactix have been embarrassed by the West Coast Fever, humbled 79-43 in today's round 3 clash. Despite being early on in the season, it appears that the Tactix are once again the front runners for the wooden spoon.

After showing an improved performance last week against the highly favoured Swifts all of the hard work has been evaporated by a furious Fever. The Fever have always had a strong record against the NZ teams in the competition and once again it was the case.

Sophia Fenwick was rewarded with a starting position despite last week only shooting 54% and after missing her first attempt once again she never recovered. She finished the game with 7 turnovers, 6/10 shooting and no goal assists.

The combination of Nat Medhurst and Caitlin Bassett are starting to show signs of the preseason hype and made easy work of the Tactix defensive duo. An even spread of goals between the two helped get the circle moving, keeping the Tactix guessing.

The experienced player's of Clarke and Thompson needed to stand up and show their leadership skills to try and keep the team on track but even they were guilty of silly turnovers and low percentage passes.

Nothing seemed to go their way.

The silly schoolgirl turnovers that include breaking on a centre pass and not wholly within the centre circle, should not be made at this level. Simple as that.

It makes it hard to see how the Tactix can move further up the ladder anytime soon playing the same game.

Low shooting percentage and awful errors.

For the Fever, Ash Brazill again showed she is once again in the mix for Diamonds selection later this year, continually disrupting the Tactix ball in the midcourt and helping keep Thompson off the goal circle on attack.

She finished with 3 intercepts, 6 deflections and only 2 turnovers. Brazill continues to show a well rounded performance on both attack and defense.

It appears as though some continued soul-searching for the Tactix is in order to quickly get back on track and start putting out consistent performances.

While the question still remains if the Fever can manage a win against one of the top Australian teams.

What did you think of the game?
